Two Quick Beauty Tips from Beautician* Ally Allen

1. Lipstick is a must for any fashion forward gal. The one I'm wearing is Chanel Mademoiselle. It may seem expensive for some, but make-up is a tricky business. I'd rather save up for a shade that looks beautiful on me than a cheaper alternative which is nothing special. That said, a cheaper lipstick may look better than a more expensive one (which would be a great situation!)
2. Get unique nail colors. Yes, I know there are dupes for the expensive brands. I'm not telling you to buy 20 dollar nail polish - I'm saying get colors that are unique and different. I'm wearing Nars' Orgasm. Apparently people either love or hate this particular polish. On a general note, obviously buy what you like - nails don't have to be trendy all of the time and not everyone is going to like it.
Thanks for sticking till the end! Now, I have a question for you guys - Do you invest in expensive make-up or opt for cheaper products?

I love the print of this dress! I can't believe you posed next to a wasp nest, I would not be caught anywhere near one. I'm very minimal when it comes to beauty products, so I usually go for the inexpensive stuff.. but I have a few items that are pricier that I save for special occasions! :)

ReplyDeleteI really love this look and I can totally relate to the whole wasp thing- 2 months ago, I had to strike poses surrounded with lots of bees, being an aspiring fashionista requires a lot of sacrifices! And as for your make-up question, I usually try to opt for cheaper products provided that they are of good quality. My foundation is an exception- it's really hard to find the one that would match my skin tone, so I'd much rather pay a little more and be sure that it won't make me look like a Jersey Shore character or something. :)

I love that dress! It sold very quickly at H&M during their summer sale! Depending on the cosmetic I may splurge or save. My primers and foundation are splurge, I believe if the base of your make-up is high quality it'll enhance the pigmentation and prolong the lasting effect. I do buy higher quality lipsticks because I prefer to try on the colour before buying which isn't always an option at the drugstore.
ReplyDeleteNail polish I usually buy something inexpensive, but again I do use a high quality base coat and top coat. I swear by orly bonder as my base and seche vite as my top coat.
I used the same base and top coat as well - they're pretty great I must say!

haha I'd be nervous next to a wasp nest too! As for the makeup, i do a bit of both - i think a good foundation no matter the price is the most important, but its always a quality/price weigh up every time.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I mostly buy cheap products, but only if they are working for me! I love lipstick and nail polish and tend to stray away from eyeshadow. It makes me look tired!
